Kaiwaka Sports Association BriefsRugby – junior
We are looking forward to hosting the Rodney/Otamatea JMB Rally Day on Friday August 21. All five of the clubs will be playing at our grounds (Tomarata, Wellsford, Maungaturoto, Eastern United and Paparoa). This will be the last Rally Day for the season. Rugby – intermediate Our two IMB teams, U14s and U16s teams, have both secured spots in their semi-finals. Our IMB teams will hold their prizegiving at the Sports Complex on Sunday August 23 at noon. This will be a combined prizegiving with the senior Hawks. All players, family and supporters are very welcome to attend. Rugby – senior Both of our senior Hawks teams, the Reserves and the Premiers, have had a great season. The Premiers made it to the semi-finals. The Reserves secured their spot in the finals at Toll Stadium, and were just pipped at the post 16–18. The Hawks prizegiving will be combined with the IMB prizegiving and will be held at the Sports Complex on Sunday August 23 at noon. All welcome. Fast Five Netball Who's keen to give Fast Five netball a go? I'm going to run a social, mixed module with games held in the KSA gymnasium on Sunday afternoons starting August 30. Only $100 team fee ($10 per player) and there will be prize money up for grabs! Men, women and kids welcome. A registration form is on the Kaiwaka Fast Five facebook page, or contact me and I will email it to you. This will be a fun, friendly module, so why not get a group of mates together and give it a try! Gymnastics Stephanie Brown will step down as president of our gymnastics club at the end of the year. She has done a wonderful job of running gymnastics for the last eight years and we are greatly appreciative of the time and effort she has put into the club. Stephanie and her family members have covered most of the positions within the club – administration, equipment set up, coaching – so for the club to continue in 2016 we need help from gymnastics parents or people in the community. If you can help out in any capacity please phone Stephanie on 431 2022 Youth Night Have you heard that there is now a Fitness and Fun evening for children on Friday evenings? This is an event run by our Fitness Centre president Siobhan Cole and the Kaiwaka Family Church. It is held in the KSA gymnasium every Friday from 6pm. This is for boys and girls under 18-years-old, all fitness levels are welcome, gold coin donation. Here is some of the facebook feedback after last Fridays session: “My young guy had an absolute blast, thank you so much for providing this for the kids.” – Tina. “My son really enjoyed it, he came and said it was great, way better than he thought it would be!” – Rebecca. “My boys had so much fun, they can't wait for next week.” – Lorena. “My boys always love it, thanks Siobhan, Paul and Shona.” – Lish. If you've got children, and are interested in bringing them along to our gymnasium for a fun, active evening, remember to write it in your diary! ■ Cheryl Anderson, KSA manager, 431 2051, kaiwakasports@gmail.com |
