Mangawhai art on council walls
In a collaboration between Kaipara District Council (KDC) and Mangawhai Artists Incorporated (MAI) the artworks of MAI artists are to be displayed across three walls in the reception area of the Council’s offices at the Hub in Mangawhai as a ‘Council celebrating creativity’ project.

The concept is to exhibit a variety of art works in different media profiling local artists, in time slots of three months, curated as an overall year round exhibition.

The goal is to promote community enjoyment, awareness and potential involvement in the arts in Mangawhai as the public enters the building. At the same time it will promote and support local artists and the MAI, and create a little magic on council walls to be enjoyed by staff and visitors. There will be no sales in the building but details of the artists and MAI will be displayed for interested parties to make contact.

Mangawhai Artists Inc member Rosina Kamphuis spotted the potential of the blank council office walls, seeing them as an opportunity to celebrate creativity and wellbeing through art. She and Nicola Everett will curate the exhibition and approach local artists for their work.

Roundabout: Have your say
Council is asking the community to have a say about the proposed roundabout at the Moir Street/Insley Street intersection. People who favour the roundabout concept may not be aware that the consequences of a roundabout would be removal of almost all the parking around the Village and hall, library and art gallery area.
