Members Easter exhibition opens at Mangawhai gallery11 April, 2022
A new exhibition at the Mangawhai Artists Gallery celebrates the work of 40 member artists. “The blend of 2D and 3D work exhibited illustrates the depth of talent and creativity within the art community in Mangawhai,” says Belinda Vernon, Mangawhai Artists chair. “The annual Members Easter Exhibition is the opportunity for member artists to submit one or two pieces of work to share with the community. The exhibition is unusual in that it showcases the work of many artists as a single exhibition, rather than an exhibition focussing on the work of just one, two or a few artists.” There are huge challenges in curating an exhibition of single works by a range of artists to ensure it presents as an exhibition. Member artist Elena Nikolaeva has risen to the challenge by curating a cohesive and powerful exposition of the creative talent of the individual artists. Two-dimensional (2D) works are a strong feature of the exhibition coming in many forms – oils, acrylic, ink, charcoal, watercolours, with several mixed media works. Three-dimensional (3D) works include ceramics as well as sculptures created from a variety of media. A small number of unframed prints are also available. Prices range from less than $100 to more than $1000. The exhibition is open through to the Wednesday after Easter, with a different artist looking after the gallery each morning and afternoon. “Call in, view the exhibition and chat to the artist,” says Belinda. “They will be sure to welcome the chance to share their passion and enthusiasm for art.” n The Members Easter Exhibition is open daily from 10am to 3pm, Friday April 8 to midday Wednesday April 20 at the Mangawhai Artists Gallery, 45 Moir St, Mangawhai. |
