Changing of the Guardians

Creating a lot of interest at their posts on the outer reaches of the Museum carpark, Mangawhai’s guardians stood proudly bearing up under the bad weather of New Year yet sticking to their task as sentrys and protectors.

Unfortunately one was removed from their post by persons unknown, hopefully to enjoy Christmas off duty, but after public appeal they returned unharmed whereupon another defected and is sadly still AWOL leaving a gap in the ranks. While we can understand the possibility of them being souvenired (as are road cones from time to time) these serve a far greater community service through their association with our growing arts faction.

The concept of the guardians was to stand at the entrance of what is to be the Art Centre in the future and also to enliven the Museum surrounds. While this has been achieved it would be nice if the full contingent could be reunited for the remainder of the summer.
