Pipi to undergo revival

 

A rejuvenation of the gardens surrounding the Smashed Pipi restaurant is just the beginning as partners Lloyd Rooney and Mike Fraser have recently bought the business and shortly embark on a facelift and refurbishment programme.

Better known as owner operators of the very successful Cove Cafe at Waipu Cove, the pair have also just completed a renovation and recently opened The Quay at the Whangarei Town Basin- formerly Reva’s, a different kind of dining but family orientated for Mangawhai folk who venture regularly to Whangarei.

While the Whangarei establishment will provide a different kind of atmosphere being at the unique location right at the water’s edge, the Pipi, which will also undergo a name change, will be along the lines of the Cove Cafe – seaside fare and wholesome family food.

“Lots to do,” says Lloyd with supervising the opening of the Whangarei eatery scheduled for last Saturday. “We’ll get that running smoothly before doing a complete makeover including a name change of the Mangawhai establishment which will be scheduled to open Labour weekend.
