MANGAWHAI'S NO.1 NEWSPAPER

Warm welcome awaits at Willow CreekA virtual lifetime in the City, including fourteen years employed in a variety of roles at Auckland University, finally ran its course last year and, having spent time in Mangawhai where her parents now live, Amanda Lyne decided Mangawhai was for her.
Though running her own business was something of a sidestep, Amanda figured that with more than a little interior decorating flare, a penchant for gardening plus her passion for cooking, a B&B establishment would be the ideal suit for her new lifestyle. So, having taken up residence in her Tara Rd property last September, together with her two feline friends, the transformation commenced, culminating in Willow Creek boutique holiday accommodation. This may also be a boon for locals who need a ‘spare room’ when unexpected guests arrive – well worth keeping in mind. Having travelled widely, Amanda knows and appreciates the importance of creating a comfortable, warm and inviting space for her guests in which to rest and unwind – plus free internet and Wi-Fi for those who simply can’t let go! Having occasionally visited her native Devon and become enamoured with “England’s green and pleasant land”, Willow Creek, with its adjoining farm land, gives her and her guests the same feeling of open space she was unable to enjoy in the City. “I can sit on my terrace and look out across the green fields and it’s so quiet,” says Amanda. “Often there are cattle in the paddocks and I feel almost like a farmer, but with all the pluses and none of the obligations.” It’s not just home away from home, its more than that because visitors can simply enjoy their stay and leave the tidying up to their host. Aptly-named Kingfisher and Tui, the two super-comfortable suites can accommodate two couples or a family of four though Amanda has plans to expand her accommodation options as time goes by. Consider the comfortable rooms then add on the peaceful rural setting and the spa, and pleasant tree-lined surrounds which together epitomise the word ‘holiday.’ Though semi-rural, Willow Creek is barely a ten minute walk or a very quick drive to Mangawhai Village with its weekly market and award-winning butchery and chocolatiere not to mention cafe’s and eateries. Then of course there are the beaches and walking tracks and children’s activity zone, all within easy reach. Summer is over but another is on the way and if Mangawhai is not yet your favourite destination, a stay at Willow Creek is sure to convince you. Check out willowcreekmangawhai.co.nz, but don’t leave it too long. LOCATION LOCATION: Guests can enjoy the peaceful rural setting yet Mangawhai Village is just a short walk away. AMANDA LYNE: The business suits her skills and new lifestyle she says. |
