Miss Ruby’s big day out

With gleaming chrome, buffed curvaceous bodies and proud rumbling engines, east Kaipara’s brand-new fundraiser – the Mangawhai Muscle, Classic and Bike Extravaganza 2021 – went full throttle on Easter weekend, attracting hundreds of locals and holidaymakers alike to Mangawhai Domain on April 4.

But it wasn’t all V8s and V-Twins. Joining the fun was vintage car-loving local couple Neville and Ann Dowson, well-known for their mosaic garden-art and giant glass bottle sculptures, looking delightful and dapper for a relaxing Sunday ride in ‘Miss Ruby’, a 1930s Austin Seven.
