A huge thanks Through your paper we would like to say a huge thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Kaipara District Council office in Mangawhai and the Moir Point Christian Centre. As stranded travellers during the unexpected flooding on Friday we were made so welcome and treated with kindness. We expected to sleep in the car but were overwhelmed by the organisation that included both a bed and breakfast. A huge shout out to you all from us. Manaakitanga experienced in Mangawhai is memorable. We certainly left feeling better than when we arrived. Nga mihinui and kia kaha.
Clare and Mike Ravenscroft Te Awamutu
Generosity and support Just to acknowledge the generosity and support provided by the Tomarata Rugby Club during the historic storm on Friday February 24. I was one of many who could not get back to Mangawhai due to the Waiteitei Stream flooding the Mangawhai Road just past the rugby ground. Their hospitality providing nosh, beverages, washrooms, Wi-Fi and Sky Sports was gratefully received. In particular youngsters from Mahurangi College on the stranded Leabourn school bus were a credit to their school and parents. Huge thanks, and wishing the club all the success for the coming season.
