Big time beckons bikersThree Waipu boys are about to hit the big time in the motocross world. Max Kelly, Riley Ward and Ben Wigram have gradually been improving their skills at the Maungaturoto MX Club track and are about to embark on some serious competition. Riley is a neighbour of longstanding petrolhead Neil Boniface who has assumed the role of coach and mentor to the three 10-year-olds and is also able to transport them to events. “Neil gives his time for free and just loves seeing the boys improve and do so well,” says Mum Vicky Kelly. “They are extremely lucky to have Neil on board, arranging a sponsor bike for our boys through Jamie at Yamaha Whangarei which is a great opportunity for them to get to ride one of the latest Yamaha machines. We are all very grateful and can't thank Neil enough.” In the coming months the trio will be competing in the Penrite Northland Champs competition beginning on February 2 at Maungaturoto and, fingers crossed, all three will have great results debuting in the 65cc class. The group is also seeking sponsorship to enable them to get team shirts made for the championships and perhaps assist with some of the ongoing costs involved and are happy to discuss brand exposure for any supporters.
