Award acknowledges hard workThree former Otamatea High School students were presented awards at the recent Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Awards held at St Kentigern Boys’ School, Auckland.
Tayla Perkinson, Michelle Schimanski, and Michael Parker all received a prestigious Gold Award. The award is earned by those who have fulfilled the required criteria of individual development, and team leadership and participation through a number of physical, mental, knowledge and management disciplines. Presenting the awards were former governor general Sir Anand Satyanand and his wife Lady Susan Satyanand. Also attending the ceremony were Otamatea High School DOE co-ordinators Robyn Bruce and Wayne Maclennan, along with principal Rachel Clothier-Simmonds.
