Treewi or Dogwood? The two gum trees that have graced the section of the Waipu Vet Centre have been there forever and have earned the attention of many a local dog.
Looking to modernise the area, staff decided it was time for the trees to go. Auckland chainsaw sculptor Peter Hardie was set the task of turning the stumps into something more akin to the adjacent vet clinic, much to the delight of locals. Trees and dogs go together so that was an easy decision but the kiwi and moa took a little more planning and work. The finished products will be sanded and oiled and, being hardwood, should grace the centre for some years to come. |
