Marsden trailer boat storage will meet growing needThe growth of activity at Marsden Cove, both on and off the water, has prompted the construction of the Marsden Trailer Boat Park.
Brent Wilson, complex manager for Marsden Maritime Holdings says when he assumed his post three-and-a-half years ago the marina was running at 33 perc cent occupancy. That has now reached 75 per cent. In one short period there were 650 trailer boat launchings recorded. “It therefore makes sense to have a safe haven for your boat,” says Brent. “Some are very expensive and with the state of roads and amount of roadworks, many are prone to stone chips. Keeping towing traffic off the road in holiday times has also got to be a good safety move.” Stage one in the plan will open officially at the end of the month with 60 bays initially but will no doubt expand. The facility is close to a boat ramp, is well lit with monitored CCTV, washdown and a works area. Access is via an electric gate by remote control operating 24/7 and the facility is adjacent to fuel, general store, bakery and chandlery. “Marsden Cove is becoming increasingly popular so it makes sense to leave your boat in safety,” Brent adds. “It negates the towing hassle of which a number of drivers are not overly confident, especially in holiday traffic. It’s a plus in regard to the road safety factor but mainly its simply the convenience.” The whole area is 180 hectares which leaves the opportunity for considerably more development of hardstand and repair areas and facilities. The past three summers have all shown an increase in boating activity from Marsden Cove. It is unlikely this summer will see any change in that trend so Marsden Trailer Boat Storage could well be the answer to many boaties’ prayers. For further information see marsdencovemarina.co.nz |
