Speed review for Tara RoadAs a part of Council’s programme of improved road safety on the network, Kaipara District Council is looking to reduce the speed limit around the Tara Road, Kaiwaka Mangawhai Road intersection.
The review area extends from Moir Street, at a point 280m west of Insley Street where the current 50kph to 70kph speed limit boundary is located, to a point on the Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Road, 300m to the west of the intersection with Tara Road. The review area also includes Tara Road, from the intersection with Moir Street to a point 100m north of Darmah Lane. The proposed lower speed limit will:
Alongside the proposed change to speed is an update to Council’s existing Speed Bylaw. The key changes to the bylaw include an updating of relevant legislation, and formatting changes to align the bylaw with other Northland Councils. “The safety of our residents is paramount, and as areas within our district become more urbanised, reducing speed limits helps to achieve this,” says acting Kaipara District Council chief executive Curt Martin said.
