Success for Waipu junior performersEmma Cooper of Waipu, herself a singer of considerable acclaim, recently fielded a junior team of up and coming young Waipu performers at the Northland Performing Arts competitions with some pleasing results.
Amber Ardern (pictured) was first in Novice Solo with her rendition of ‘Bright eyes’ from Watership Down, and second in Sacred/Gospel music. Hayden Fraser was also a winner and Northland Junior Vocal Champion. Kaiser Jacoby was also a winner, while Oliva Papworth and Jamie Grace received highly commended awards. Coach Emma is a classically trained vocalist who often sings as a soloist throughout Northland and greater Auckland. She also has a love of theatre, recently playing the role of Tanya in Mamma Mia. Her teaching involves vocal technique, including breathing and support, improved pitch, vocal range and intonation. Students learn performance skills and are encouraged to perform both solo and group songs. |
