Time to rockKaiwaka’s Top of the Rock family fun day is scheduled for Sunday 11 February, and organisers are encouraging entrants to take it fast or take it slow, whatever suits your fitness level or enthusiasm.
The event caters for walkers, runners and mountain bikers, both recreational and competitive as there are a range of options from a five kilometre casual walk to 10 kilometre run, 30 kilometre mountain bike route or a fun bike course for under 10-year-olds. The routes run through some of Kaiwaka’s most scenic countryside and there's the chance to climb the iconic Baldrock Mountain and be well rewarded by fabulous views. Participants of all ages can enter Top of the Rock, from pre-schoolers upwards. Last year the $50 prize for the oldest participant went to a 77-year-old! TV3's Brendon 'Money Man' Johnson will host the prize giving with prizes for place-getters as well as lots of great spot prizes. One lucky person will go home with a brand new mountain bike. Last year there were over 400 participants and organisers are hoping to build on that number again. Please note that there will be no entries on the day. Entry forms are available at kaiwakasports.co.nz. The last day to enter is Friday 9th February and there will be no entries allowed on the day.
