'Have a go' surf dayTo mark the first day of spring equinox on Saturday September 23, Aotearoa Surf are holding ‘Have a Go Surf Day 2017’, a free event for children and youth in the community. The ‘Have a Go’ day offers five free learn to surf sessions at Te Arai Beach. The programme caters for up to 125 surfers, aged four years and over, and provides both beginner and intermediate lessons featuring beach safety, surfing fundamentals as well as the chance to give it a go on a surfboard! Put together in association with big surf brands including Vissla, NSP, and Platino Surf, Aotearoa Surf are bringing along their team of seven internationally qualified coaches, plus surfboards and wetsuits, and will provide safety cover. All you need to do is turn up, give it a go, and you'll be in to win a huge range of prizes and giveaways on the day including surfboards, wetsuits, bodyboards, surf gear and much more! Che Burnett, Director of Aotearoa Surf says, "The 2017 Have a Go Surf Day is designed to bring the surfing industry together with youths that have surfed maybe a few times, some maybe never, and those wouldn't normally get the opportunity to give surfing a try. From just this one experience some youths will continue to surf, and it will shape their lives forever." Aotearoa Surf has a history of providing and supporting programmes focussed on the development of youth and the preservation of the environment. “We're a responsible company and will always be that way,” says Che. “It's who we are." n Don't miss out.
