Mum, Cannabis and MeMum, Cannabis and Me, an educational documentary about cannabis as a medicine for New Zealanders was released on September 8 at Wellington Hospital. This 30 minute educational documentary encourages informed conversation between doctors and patients regarding the use of cannabis as a medicine in New Zealand. Created by Victoria Catherwood, a fifth‐year medical student at the University of Otago, and researcher and co‐founder of The University of Otago Integrative Medicine Otago Group, Ms Catherwood says she aims to equip doctors and the medical community with information about evidence‐based medicine so they're able to have appropriate medicinal cannabis conversations with patients. Approximately 175,000 people in New Zealand suffer from chronic diseases and are unable to have informed conversations about treatment options with their doctor. A Spindle Fibre Films spokesperson told the Focus, “We firmly believe this issue needs to be shared and discussed widely." n Spindle Fibre Films is seeking organisations to show Mum, Cannabis and Me throughout September. Any official institution, theatre or lecture hall willing to screen the documentary can submit enquiries to goo.gl/LsMzBg. |
