Mangawhai Artists make new friendsCelebrating friendship, creativity and the love of art, Mangawhai Artists recently hosted an event to grow their ‘friends’ support base and form a group: Friends of Mangawhai Artists (FOMA).
More than 80 friends came together at the Cheviot St home of Wendy Leach for an afternoon of wine and nibbles and to to connect with artists and find out more about the thriving Mangawhai Artists community. Distinguished by fortnightly high quality exhibitions held at the Mangawhai Artists Gallery in the Village, Mangawhai Artists Inc. embraces more than 150 artists based in and around Mangawhai. Artists Inc. chairperson Mary-Anne Boyd welcomed visitors and gave a summary of the recent progress and the goodwill that has fuelled the growth of the group. “The purpose of the ‘friends’ is to be just that: a friend, an advocate, a supporter and a promoter of the vibrant, energetic artistic community that flourishes in Mangawhai,” said FOMA coordinator Belinda Vernon.
