Car show fundraiser could be regular event

 

In a fundraiser of a different kind, Maungaturoto Primary School organised a car show on Sunday November 27 to raise funds for year 5 and 6 pupils to go on summer camp to Whangaparaoa.

Organised through emails, school newsletter and word of mouth the show attracted over a hundred vehicles, cars and motorbikes from across the Kaipara including and aged armed vehicle which ferried kids around the complex.

Outside entries also came from Auckland and Whangarei and together with a variety of coffee and food, including a hangi, the community turned out in good numbers to support the event.

Organiser Colin Storey has hinted that it could be a regular event, bigger and better next year.

“For the work involved it was well worthwhile,” he said, and though not able to reveal the amount raised the result was “better than expected.”
