Mangawhai hosts annual St John charity ride

A roar of motorcycles descended on the St John Mangawhai ambulance station last weekend for the annual Ulysses Motorcycle Club St John fundraiser.

The event, that usually happens on ANZAC weekend involves up to 27 St John ambulance stations throughout the country hosting their local Ulysses Club for lunch, with proceeds donated to St John in each area. Despite the delay due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings and some blustery conditions, over 60 motorcycles took part in the fundraiser, with the contingent representing clubs from across Northland and Auckland.

 “We’re incredibly grateful for the support of Ulysses Clubs, and pleased to be chosen to host again this year,” says St John Bream Bay Area Committee member and local Station Manager, Andrew Mumford. “We’d also like to acknowledge the generous support of The Dune, Olives on the Hill, Flaming Fires, Bammas Surf Shop, Mangawhai Meat Shop, and Wood Street Pizzeria that sponsored equipment, food items and raffle prizes.”
