Pipe band to raise spirits with November concertPlanning is well underway for a NorthCal concert to be held in The Celtic Barn, Waipu on Saturday November 7. NorthCal Pipe Band proudly serves the whole of Northland at Christmas parades, Anzac Day, and other events.
The band is excited to be working with a number of great local artists including singers Emma Cooper and Alisa Dodds from Waipu, the Waipu Highland Pipe Band, Highland dancers from Lothian Highland Dance Studio and keyboard artist Andrew Garrett. NorthCal is hoping to raise money to help the band back onto its feet after a tumultuous year. Covid lockdowns closed their Morningside, Whangarei band hall for months. Then July floods have seen the hall closed with ongoing repairs. The band is currently practicing at other venues. Pipe Major Bain McGregor says the evening programme contains many crowd favourites including Highland Cathedral and The Bells of Dunblane. “Some of our learner pipers will be taking part in their first ever performance. There will be toes tapping and fingers flying so come along and enjoy an evening of Celtic entertainment.” NorthCal Pipe Band Concert, Saturday November 7, 7.30pm The Celtic Barn, Waipu. Tickets $25 each from Waipu Real Estate or phone Jill Mutch on 09 432 0090. If Jill is out leave a message for her and she will phone back. |
