Numbers add up for Mangawhai at Mathex

Over forty teams from most schools north of Wellsford assembled at Whangarei Boys High School last week to take part in the 2012 Mathex competition – a fast-running, quick-fire exam of pupil’s ability to evaluate and answer correctly as many maths questions as possible in a 30 minute period. 

Despite some really hefty opposition, the Year 8 competition was won by the Mangawhai Beach School team of Denis Hysenaj,
Joshua Nishitani-Hart, 
Lachie Ewing, and Lachie Campbell (pictured above).

Kaipara also triumphed in the Year 7 competition with winners Claude Smyth, Ann-Marie Holst, Ewan Smith and Aaron Lupton representing Otamatea High School.
