Family activities make happy return to Gala Day
Mangawhai’s holiday community will gather again for its annual summer Gala Day at the Domain on Wednesday January 2. Around 200 stallholders will sell clothing, leather goods, sunglasses, plants and garden products, jewellery, soaps, speciality foodstuffs, fresh produce, indoor and outdoor art, children’s toys, household products, farm and building supplies, and more. After a long absence a programme of family activities is being planned – egg throwing, sack races, egg-and-spoon race, kangaroo hopping and a mystery ‘bag and drag’ race. More food and drink outlets in the stallholder area will help to cope with demand. Organisers are pleased to be able to keep most costs the same as last time. “As always we are looking for volunteers to assist on the day, and if you have not already done it we would appreciate if you can join the almost one hundred organisations and individuals who have donated to the quickfire raffle and prize pool,” says gala spokesman John Dickie.
