First album recorded in Mangawhai
Laura Hunter Mangawhai migrant and musician, Laura Hunter, has recently released her first single Don’t Be Afraid To Love. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter, originally from Christchurch, has seen her musical star on the rise in 2012. The former uni student moved to Mangawhai Heads following her communications degree, where she has been recording her EP with multi-genre producer Lukas Kelly. An EP is due for release in January 2013, followed by her first album later in the year. Hunter began playing her own acoustic live gigs at venues in Christchurch in late 2011, before collaborating with her producer and experimenting with the sound for her album. She has recently played a number of house gigs around Northland and is looking forward to touring her new music more over the summer back down south. The single Don’t Be Afraid To Love is an ‘acoustic meets electro and drum and bass’ pop song. Its lyrics express following love and the love for music and how often the two intertwine – and is available now on iTunes. |
