Kakariki Moving to a New Home

MOVING: Alison Jacomb is moving Kakariki to the Bennetts building.

Five years ago  Jess Costello saw an opening in the Mangawhai market for natural health products – an area showing tremendous growth. So, combining supplements, traditional remedies and natural products with alternate therapies these became the basis of Kakariki the Health Store.

Now Kakariki has a new owner. Alison Jacomb – after a long and noble career as a mother of five, training in beauty therapy and moving to rural Mangawhai – has recently purchased and relocated the Kakariki health shop.

In a little twist of irony Alison has, for the past 18 months, worked as a staff member at the café in the Bennetts complex from where the renamed Kakariki Health and Wellbeing will now operate.

It is an entirely new venture for Alison but one she is excited about given firstly that she is able to continue serving the band of loyal local customers, and secondly, to put her own stamp on it providing the same services and even adding some more products.

One interesting addition is that of locally distributed organic babywear. This will hopefully be followed by an array of books relating to and educating on strategies for maintaining good health.

Therapy sessions will again be offered in the form of homeopathy, massage, Theta Healing and reflexology. 

“I’m pleased to have the assistance of Tanya Fox who has been managing the business during Jess’s maternity leave,” says Alison with excitement at the prospect of opening prior to Christmas. “Tanya will bring me up to speed on products and systems and local customers will still be met by a familiar face.”
