Netball reflects on good seasonTOP GIRLS: Ota-Ex One award winners Rose O'Connell, Maree Stewart, and Naomi Foster. Otamatea-Ex has had a successful 2012, starting the season with a mixed tournament that raised money and drummed up some interest. The club will be looking at doing this again in 2013. One team entered the Whangarei Open tournament, finishing runner-up in the top grade. Otamatea-Ex entered three teams into the Rodney Netball Centre Friday night competition with some very credible results: Ota-Ex Three - 5th B Grade; Ota-Ex Two - 5th A reserve Grade; Ota-Ex One - 1st in Premier Grade, an excellent result for the club. The club could not field a full team for the Toheroa Tournament this year but will try again next season. Thanks to the coaches Kathybelle Gamble and Lee Renton for their input throughout the season, and to the Kaiwaka Sports Association for their help getting teams all into the same coloured uniforms. Also a big thank you to sponsors Phil Keen Concrete, Renton Roofing and Paul Greig Electrical, who each supplied a team with a bag filled with much needed first aid supplies. |
