Take your partners for the last dance

The eighth Love 2 Dance show will be held at the Mangawhai Beach School gymnasium on Saturday December 15 when a group of 30 enthusiastic children aged 4 to 14 will showcase their hip-hop, country and rock n roll dance routines. 

Outstanding boy Tane Young shows great potential as a dancer and performer and will join some of the older girls in their dances. He will also perform with three of his school friends in their own choreographed hip-hop presentation. 

Other entertainment will include two talented musicians, line dancers from Wellsford and Warkworth plus a Pilates demonstration performed to music. 

It is an hour of jam packed entertainment for all ages. Adults $10 and children $5, 2pm and 4pm sessions. It’s not a show without a great audience so come along and bring your friends, there’s something for everyone! 

Mary Madden has been teaching children to dance for over 8 years in Mangawhai. Her own daughters have danced and been involved in the shows but now grown up will be moving on soon and so next year could be her last.

“I have had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of students and have gained so much enjoyment with my Love 2 Dance business,” says Mary. “I am so grateful I’ve been able to share what I love to do.

“Next year will be my tenth year in Mangawhai and I want to finish on a high note. Another new adventure is beckoning me! I will teach for one more year then I would like someone else to take my place and carry on with Love 2 Dance in the community. If you know someone that would be perfect, let me know!”

Mary is taking ennrolments now for the February 2013 intake of children’s dance classes. There will be Summer Holiday Pilates classes for her regulars and visitors to Mangawhai and if you are interested in learning to dance with your partner there is a course coming in March.
