Blue Light brings kids fishing eventNorth Rodney Blue Light is planning its first ever TradeZone Kids Gone Fishin Event. Popular TV fishing host, Graeme Sinclair, who is also patron of National Blue Light will host the event. Graeme became involved with the Blue Light organisation 15 years ago helping out a local police officer from Opotiki with a youth program. Since then the event has taken off across the country. Shane Gould, Blue Light community youth worker, is pleased to have Graeme in attendance at the Mangawhai Boating & Fishing club. Local boating and fishing club members are supporting the event by sponsoring a sausage sizzle and drinks. The event is for families with local students up to 14 years and limited to the first 100 entries. Fishing will be done along the estuary 12-2pm. Weigh-in will be at 2.15pm, with prize giving at 3pm. Blue Light is sponsoring a bus for youth and their parents from Wellsford School to Mangawhai and return departing the school at 11.30am and returning around 3.40pm. Youth must be accompanied on the bus and during the event. Prior registrations are essential for the bus as seats are limited. Spot prizes will be sponsored by Tradezone, Blue Light, and The Warehouse. Entry is free however registrations are required prior to the event and youth must be accompanied by an adult. Entry forms can be obtained from Wellsford School, Mangawhai Beach School, Mangawhai Fishing and Tackle, Mangawhai Boating and Fishing Club, or by contacting Shane Gould, North Rodney Blue Light, bluelight-wellsford@clear.net.nz.
