Community asked for fund inputThe community of Mangawhai may have a greater say in the future operation of the Mangawhai Endowment Fund including the distribution of funds as part of the annual grants process. At its meeting on October 30, the council voted to invite staff to approach the Mangawhai Community Trust to help identify two people from the local community to sit on the Mangawhai Endowment Fund Committee. “This move is a direct response to a number of submissions received by council which called for more transparency and greater community participation around the Mangawhai Endowment Fund,” said commission chair John Robertson. The successful appointees will join commissioners John Robertson and Colin Dale on the committee and will be fully involved in the assessment and determination of applications for grants. The committee will also be used in reviewing the guidelines used in making grants. |
