Church joins Garden RambleAnother first on this years Garden Ramble programme on November 10-11 is the display of flowers at the Chapel of Christ The King in Molesworth Drive. For many years they have had an annual flower festival with huge displays and in recent years, beautiful arrangements with a lot of help from the Kaiwaka Garden Club. This will be the last display in the old church and will be the 20th year of the church flower festival which has delighted many with its burst of spring colour and variety of arrangements. “The church has served the community well for about 60 years as a place of worship but members are now looking forward to moving to the new church early in the New Year,” says spokesperson Margaret Whittaker. “The theme of the display is therefore Alpha and Omega: the beginning and the end – not that the old building will be pulled down. It is hoped it will serve Mangawhai proudly in a new capacity.” Having stood for over a hundred years, Margaret says it is viewed by many with great affection. Church members are working alongside the ladies organising the Palmers Garden Ramble so will be open to welcome visitors on Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 November. Others who might like to add to the display would be most welcome. Ticket for the Palmers Planet Mangawhai Garden Ramble are available at Naja Garden Centre, Mangawhai; Mangawhai Books & Gifts; JaquesSuperstore, Kaiwaka; i-site Warkworth & Woody’s Winners, Wellsford ■ For more Garden Ramble details phone Mangawhai Kindergarten 431 4333 or email kaiwakamangawhai@plunket.org.nz |
