Country comfort for garden ramblers
Mixing a home health and beauty business with beauty in the garden sees Wendy Simpson (pictured above) as one of the new entrants in this year’s Palmer’s Planet Mangawhai Garden Ramble. Though business comes first in favour of an easy-care garden, Wendy admits that her tropical themed plot is still a work in progress. There’s never enough time, she says yet though her garden is but steps away from her studio door, it carries it’s own form of therapy as it’s easy to swap the inside for the outside especially on fine sunny Spring days. Banana palms, flaxes, bangelo’s and Pukas combine well with the limestone rocks and, in the season coax in the tuis which are a great source of entertainment in any garden. Along Cove Rd it’s country-fied and Wendy’s plot is complemented by her mother-in-laws garden on the adjacent section. Annette Thompson has gone more for the English cottage style and by ramble time promises to be a blaze of colour so at this stop ramblers will be getting a two-for-one deal – and, for those who may require any beauty needs from Wendy’s studio, this could make up a trifecta. |
