New Countdown open in WarkworthCountdown unveiled its first store at Warkworth on Wednesday, just in time for the Labour Weekend rush of holidaying shoppers. The 2,500sqm Countdown store on Neville St in Warkworth was officially opened on Wednesday October 17 by former of Rodney District mayor and current Auckland councillor Penny Webster. Countdown Warkworth Store Manager Antony Tasker said the supermarket would be a welcome addition to the local community. “The response from the Warkworth locals has been fantastic,” Tasker said. The store will feature Countdown’s latest design hallmarks and technology innovations. “Some of the technology we’re using in our fresh departments is brand new to the company, so customers can enjoy a state-of-the-art shopping experience,” Tasker said. Countdown Warkworth will include a large in-store bakery baking fresh goods from scratch daily, as well as a butchery department, expansive produce section, service seafood counter and a service deli. In addition to usual over the counter deli meats, the service deli will also be offering customers a range of sliced-on-demand cheese – a unique supermarket offering for Warkworth locals. The store will also feature a walk-in beer chiller, a Lotto outlet situated in the foyer, 154 car parks and 16 checkouts, including four express checkouts and six self-serve checkouts so customers can scan and pay for their shopping themselves. Countdown Warkworth has employed 76 full and part-time staff members, and will be open Monday through to Sunday from 7am to 10pm. |
