Fright Night
Our annual Fright Night is coming up! This year it will be held on Saturday October 27 from 7.30pm. This is a fun evening out for kids and adults alike! Come dressed up in your scariest costume – prizes for best dressed boy, girl and adult.
As part of the evening we transform the pavilions’ downstairs changing rooms into a 'haunted house' which children can walk through and this year I want to amp up the scariness! So we will have an earlier session for the younger children and then dial up the fright-factor for a later session for the older children.
So, I am looking for ideas to make the second session really scary. If you have any suggestions, please phone me on 431 2051.
I am also looking for spooky props to decorate the rooms, and will need some adults to be the scarers – if you can help with anything please give me a call.
Meeting thanks
Thank you to everyone who attended last weeks meeting. Several new ideas for enhancing the Complex were discussed – our senior netball club will be painting a netball court in our gymnasium so they can host indoors tournaments, our squash club will be raising funds to build a glass balustrade overlooking our courts, and we are looking at removing more scrub along our car park boundary so that we can increase the parking area.
Martial Arts
Our Martial Arts club is now taking registrations for term four. Classes are held out of our gymnasium on Wednesday afternoons and cater for 5-year-olds through to adults. Spaces are filling up fast, so to register your interest please phone instructor Craig Bennetts on 431 5170 or email otamatea.kempo@slingshot.co.nz.
Senior netball
Our senior netball club, Otamatea-Ex, will hold their end of season prizegiving at the Complex on Friday October 26 at 5pm.
Marae fundraiser
As a fundraiser for Te Pounga Marae, there will be a Batons Up – Housie day at our Complex this Saturday October 6 from 11am. For all tickets sales (batons, housie and hangi) please phone Ani Gage on 431 2528.
Agricultural Day
The Kaiwaka School Agricultural Day will be held at our Complex on Friday October 19 from 9am. Why not come along to support our youngsters with their animals. Then Group Day (the regional Agricultural Day) will be held at the Complex on Saturday November 3.
Kaipara Sports Awards
This year the Kaipara Sports Awards will be held on Friday November 2 at the Lighthouse Function Centre in Dargaville. Several nominees from our Kaiwaka Sports Awards have been nominated for the Kaipara awards. If you would like to make a nomination, visit www.sportnorthland.co.nz.
