KSA SPORTS BRIEFSMartial Arts The recently established Martial Arts Club has proved very successful under the experienced eye of instructor Craig Bennetts. Craig is now taking registrations for Term 4. The three classes take place in the KSA gymnasium on Wednesday afternoons and cater for 5–9 year-olds, 10–15 year-olds as well as a 16-plus class. To register, please phone Craig on 431 5170 or email otamatea.kempo@slingshot.co.nz. Improvements to the Complex If you've been to the Sports Complex lately you may have noticed some changes. We are in the process of clearing the scrub from below the gymnasium. This area will then be planted with natives thanks to a grant of $500 from the KDC Biodiversity Fund. There are now signs around the Complex indicating that we are a designated Park Over Place for campervans. Visitors are welcome to park overnight at the Complex in return for a small donation. And there is now a basketball hoop above the tennis backboard next to the courts. Feel free to gather some friends and come along to shoot some hoops! Soccer The Kaipara Knights Soccer Club will hold their end-of-season prizegiving at the Complex this Saturday September 22 at 11am. Sport Northland is holding a soccer inter-schools tournament for our local primary schools at the Complex on Wednesday September 26. And high school children also enjoyed playing soccer as well as several other sports in the Years 7 & 8 inter-schools tournament held at our Complex on Friday. Kaipara Sports Awards This year the Kaipara Sports Awards will be held on Friday November 2 at the Lighthouse Function Centre in Dargaville. Several nominees from our Kaiwaka Sports Awards have been nominated for the Kaipara awards. If you would like to make a nomination, visit
