Your Health - How regular are you?We used to joke in school back in Canada that naturopathic doctors had to be the only people in the world that talked about poo over lunch. This is because it is so important!
Is one bowel movement a day enough? You may be surprised to learn that one bowel movement a day is barely enough. Moreover, one movement every one-to-two days may lead to toxic material build up, thus re absorption of some of those toxins. This reabsorbed toxic material has to go somewhere in the body and may potentially be contributing to symptoms such as achy joints, skin problems, digestive complaints, mood issues, low energy, and even hormonal irregularities. We have all seen clogged sink pipes, where grime builds on the inside and liquid drain cleaner is needed to remove the residue. Did you know the same build-up can happen in our bodies? Our intestinal wall is lined with tiny little micro channels which allow nutrients and wastes to pass through. Now imagine those tiny holes were covered with a dark tarry substance. They wouldn’t function properly to absorb nutrients and eliminate waste, and these two tasks are the most fundamental functions of a healthy system. The good news is that there are easy and cost effective ways to cleanse our intestines without the use of intensive colonics, juice fasts, or herbs. Though those are great at times too. When we deep clean our homes they generally feel better. The same goes for our bodies. We scrub our skin to keep it clean, brush out teeth, and wash our hair. Why not keep the inside clean too? If this resonates with you, and you are experiencing any of the above, or other health issues, please get in touch. It would be my pleasure to help you become a cleaner, healthier, version of you – from the inside out.
