On the run
A local man who escaped the clutches of police recently is still on the run. Connor Chandler, who is wanted for breach of bail on burglary charges, was approached by police at a Moir Street address on March 1 but the 23-year-old fled from the property and has not been sighted since.
Bach targets
A number of burglaries and thefts have been reported to police over the last few weeks. A 250cc Kawasaki Ninja motorbike was taken out of a shed in Clark Road between February 28 – March 3 along with paintball guns and bullets.
Outdoor furniture was stolen from Margaret Street, including six folding chairs and a blue canopy umbrella.
“If you have a bach that is not occupied through the week, please make sure outdoor furniture and equipment is locked securely away each time you leave,” Constable Dale Wewege says.
Get tested
Police also want to emphasis the importance of obtaining methamphetamine tests before renting out holiday homes. Having recorded evidence of tenant activity in case of property damage ensures homeowners are protected if disputes arise.
Caught on camera
A cellphone, wallet and tip jar was stolen from Three Furlongs Bar & Grill, Kaiwaka, at 3.55pm on March 14. Thanks to the power of social media a CCTV shot of those thought responsible was circulated on facebook, and within minutes of the offence and the alleged felons were later apprehended in Whangarei.
