Weather shines for Rebus club outingMangawhai Combined Rebus Club members recently enjoyed an outing to Warkworth and Matakana. The trip started with a bus ride to the Warkworth RSA for lunch then moved on to the recently opened Sculptureum at Matakana. Resulting from a lifetime in collecting works of art and ten years of hard work, this extremely well presented combination of garden sculpture and art works was a delight for members to walk off their lunch and absorb the thought-provoking messages incorporated thoughout the garden sections: The Garden of Creative Diversity, The Palm Garden and The Pink Snail Garden. There was something for everyone from driftwood whales to bronze, and tired pensioners sitting on a park bench. As the day advanced coffees were also enjoyed by some before the bus ride home. The trip was made affordable for club members with a subsidy from a Community Organisation grant. |
