Golfing great earns pride of place

 

In something of a coup, the Mangawhai Golf Club are proud possessors of a valuable keepsake. A framed trophy of wonder-golfer Lydia Ko, including the glove and practice ball she was using at the time she announced her graduation to the professional ranks, now occupies pride of place within the club.

The trophy was initially sold at auction, held at the Club to raise funds for a defibrillator for the local St John group but later negotiation by a local supporter brought it back to the Club.

With Ko now becoming a multi-million dollar earner and world’s number-one woman golfer while still yet in her teens, the monument will no doubt be something of a talking point over summer.
