With the growing number of small block ‘farmers’ few realise that their few acres are tantamount to a large garden and need just as much attention from fencing, fertilising and weed control, to regular care and attention of animals. The need for tight management of year round feed requirements, health and shelter is also important be they farming calves, ponies, sheep or alpaca and the problems which can arise with either wet winters or prolonged dry summers when feed is scarce or of low quality.

Rather than simply bale conventional hay he has purchased a specialised machine for small bale wrapping of hay and silage. This is grass of hay quality and just slightly wilted then wrapped to seal in maximum moisture and retain the highest food value possible in the spring grass so is better for your animals than hay. Small bales are much easier for small blockers to handle or transport and, being wrapped, can be stored outside. They are also available at prices that won’t stretch the budget but keep animals and owners happy and healthy.
