Fishing comp lures localsCarters Lower North Region kicked off summer on Friday November 11 with their annual fishing competition, which involved customers from Mangawhai, Maungaturoto, Warkworth and Whangaparaoa branches.
The weather was great heading out in the morning and though things got a little lumpy for some later on, most chilly bins were full of good-sized snapper. “We received excellent supplier support and were able to present great prizes to the winners,” said Chris Duke on behalf of Carters Mangawhai. “Thanks also to the Mangawhai Boating and Fishing Club for doing an excellent job at hosting us and providing a delicious meal for the hungry fishermen.” One hundred and twenty registered for the event with the winning snapper caught by Ben Lay (pictured) weighing in at 11.14 kg. Some other top catches were by Johno Richardson (kahawai 2.93 kg), Edan Craig (kingfish 8.55 kg), and Ricky Panhurst (John Dory 1.52 kg). |
