Lets get ready to ramble!Despite this latest deluge of rain, spring is really here. New leaves and greenery, buds and blossoms wait for no man, and they are appearing fresh and lush and just in time for the 2019 Palmers Planet Mangawhai Garden Ramble.
Mark your calendars for Saturday and Sunday November 16-17, and join with friends or family for two fabulous days taking in the sights of some of Mangawhai’s amazing gardens, all for a great cause. All money raised is shared between the Mangawhai Kindergarten and Mangawhai Playgroups, both of which provide invaluable support for young children and families in our local community. First held in 2003, the exciting annual event continues to evolve and grow in popularity, attracting garden enthusiasts and visitors from Northland, Auckland and further afield. It serves up a plethora of gardening and landscaping ideas and styles ranging from large estate-like properties to small ‘micro gardens’. Some of the gardens include a huge variety of very rare and exotic plants, while others have beautifully created garden art. Settings range from the tranquil ‘Cowshed’ to the picturesque sea views and gardens of ‘The Palm Guy’ plus everything in between, and each with their own story to tell. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of local owners there are 17 gardens on this year’s ramble. “We are so grateful to all the gardeners and know they are looking forward to sharing their piece of paradise and, thanks to the continuing growth of Mangawhai we have eleven new entries this year,” says spokesperson Jo Rodgers. There will also be popular refreshment stalls run by volunteers and set up in two beautiful gardens throughout the day with delicious sweet and savoury treats and beverages. Several gardens will also host simple and fun children’s activities to encourage the whole family to get out rambling. Whether you’re a seasoned rambler or a first timer, grab your early-bird tickets on sale now and let’s get ready to ramble!
