Girl Power takes Northpower EPro8 Challenge title

Waipu Primary School has taken out the 2021 Northpower EPro8 Challenge for Year 5-6.

The all-girl team of (from left to right) Ava Mewett, Daisy Winters, Harper Scrymgeour and Paige Tomes, won the final at Whangarei Intermediate last week with an impressive lead of 50 points.

Deputy principal and EPro8 ‘coach’ Jordan McDonald (left rear) was justifiably proud of his team and treated them to lunch at McDonald’s, something they had requested a week earlier.

Jordan told them at the time they had to not just win their heat but win the final before that happened. Job done!

The popular STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) competition has been the biggest in Northland yet with hundreds of students making up 77 teams from 26 Northland schools over two weeks of heats and finals.
