Mangawhai Medal WinnerIn what may be seen as the Olympic Games of the building industry, Mangawhai construction company Cavern Homes last week claimed a bronze medal at the Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
Meeting a strong field in the region from Auckland north, the Mangawhai home gained their high rating in the Future-Proof Building New Home $500,000 - $650,000 category. At 256 square metres this two storied home in cream brick is somewhat understated but internal features caught the judges’ eyes. An entertainers kitchen, heated tiles in the kitchen and dining area, alfresco summer living on the L-shaped deck and central vacuum system are just some of the features which gave Cavern Homes the nod for excellent workmanship and innovation. Obviously pleased with the recognition, Cavern principal Ken Dugdale says: “The award is recognition of a team effort right from planning to completion and enhances our reputation locally as being able to build quality at an affordable price.” This medal comes on the back of a similar accolade in 2015.
