Councillor completes MBA"Being on council with oversight of a $60 million per annum budget is a big responsibility,” says Cr Jonathan Larsen who recently completed a Master of Business Administration (Executive) degree passing with first class honours.
The intensive two-year course included business law, accounting, economics, finance, marketing, logistics, leadership, strategy, and an extensive business research project. During the course a range of New Zealand businesses was studied, along with a two-week study tour of companies and state entities in Chile and Argentina. Cr Larsen completed year two electives in finance and leadership with his research project focusing on financial modelling. “The programme was a great opportunity to build networks across the private and public sectors, and really delve into commercial activity in New Zealand and internationally,” he said, adding that completing the MBA enhanced his governance and prudent decision-making skills, “Gaining this qualification together with my time as a councillor, affirms my commitment to serving my community, and strengthens my determination to continue working for a better Kaipara. I have much more that I want to achieve for the local area, so I will be seeking re-election in the newly formed Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Ward.” |
