Sponsorship needed for Helping Hands Christmas Trail22 Nov, 2021 Charity group Mangawhai Helping Hands (MHH) is looking for sponsorship to run a festive Christmas Trail. Donated funds will be used to purchase small gifts for each child, ice cream vouchers, and combination padlocks for a treasure box. The group’s main activity is gifting, with an online Facebook membership of over 3200 giving and receiving from Warkworth, Wellsford, Mangawhai, Te Arai, Te Hana, Waipu, Kaiwaka and Maungatoroto. The charity adds to this with the local Pataka Kai, Mangawhai Book Train (Library), weekly meals for families in need, food parcels from Countdown Warkworth, monthly prizes for gifting, ad hoc promotions such as period poverty giveaways, a washing machine program to fix and gift machines, a laptop program (new), a drawers program, and they take clothes from overloaded op shops and gift them out. The last Christmas party had to be scaled down due to Covid, but this year MHH have created a Christmas Trail for families to do together. Organisers hope to hold trails in Wellsford, Mangawhai and Maungaturoto. Families each receive a trail map where they complete tasks at each location, stopping for ice cream, and each child receives a gift from the treasure box at the end. MHH will arrange the logistics, but would appreciate donations from people and businesses to help provide some festive season cheer for families in these trying times. See more info on the MHH website mangawhaishelpinghands.co.nz or check out their Facebook page. Donations can be made directly to Mangawhai’s Helping Hands Charitable Trust 12-3094-0276457-00. n Contact Libby Clews 021797712 or libbyclews@gmail.com for more information. |
