High Tea to support Pink Ribbon causeMangawhai is again taking a willing part in the fight against breast cancer with a High Tea scheduled for Saturday May 26, again under the guidance of Jane Bentley.
Jane organised a fixture in her own home in Greenhithe for five years prior to moving to Mangawhai and until the movement grew too big for her home. “Losing my Mother to breast cancer I thought this was a most worthy cause to follow,” says Jane. “In recent times the movement has grown exponentially with some wonderful passionate people donating their time, food and prizes for raffles and raising considerable sums of money. But similarly this awful disease seems to be spreading through women of all ages and anything we can do to aid the research, diagnosis and treatment has got to be good.” Jane was at the helm of last year’s event and is again the point of contact though cannot say enough about the degree of community support from willing helpers. WHAT: Pink Ribbon High Tea. WHEN: Saturday May 26 2-4 pm. WHERE: Senior Citizens Hall, Fagan Place, Mangawhai Heads. TICKETS: $20 from Mangawhai Gifts & Books, Meant To Be, Bammas. CONTACT: Jane Bentley, 021 303 890 Pretty in Pink at last year’s High Tea event, from right to left, organiser Jane Bentley, granddaughter Molly, sister Sally Skellon, and daughter Emma Grieve. |
