Double award success for accounting team

After being runners up in 2020, a local accounting firm’s numbers finally tallied 100 per cent perfect this year and saw the talented bunch of accountants and bookkeepers winning two top titles at a prestigious award ceremony.

Accredited bookkeeping business My Two Cents were awarded ‘Bookkeeping Business of the Year’ with owner Haley Wilson also taking out ‘Xero Bookkeeper of the Year’ at the Institute of Certified NZ Bookkeepers (ICNZB) awards ceremony and gala dinner, which is part of the association’s annual two day conference held in Rotorua on July 31.

Business advisor, accountant and now award-winning bookkeeper, Haley Wilson says she has been on ‘cloud nine’ for a few weeks following the ceremony.

“What an amazing end to the annual ICNZB conference,” she says. “As we were finalists in two of the top categories, I was feeling so anxious all day… and theses awards are always announced last so it was a long wait. I was absolutely ecstatic when I was named as the winner of the Bookkeeper of the Year.”

Wilson had not been long back in her seat when she was caIled back onto the stage again to receive her second award.

“I don't know who was more excited, my partner or myself. I think I was in shock.”

My Two Cents is a team of five accounting professionals; Zoe McAuley Mackyla Morrison, Tiff Jackson, Jo Jury and Haley, who between them hold a range of bookkeeping, accounting and taxation skills, and offer business setup, planning and advisory services to contractors, sole traders and small to medium businesses in Northland and beyond.

Bookkeepers from all over the country attend the ICNZB conference every year to network, meet industry specialists and ‘have fun of course’, and 2021 was My Two Cents certified bookkeeper and advisor Jo Jury’s first time. ‘Had a lot of fun showing her the ropes’ Wilson says.

“It's a great opportunity to connect with so many like-minded people in one place. There is so much to learn and take in, and you never know who is

going to give you your key ‘take-aways’ for the year,” she says. “Winning any award is amazing, let alone these two awards… I'm absolutely over the moon and so thankful I have the best team behind me, making this all possible.”
