Police SnippetsArrests after police raid
Two people were arrested on a range of charges following a long-term police investigation. Armed with a search warrant, Wellsford and North Shore police discovered firearms, ammunition, a taser, and quantities of cannabis and methamphetamine at a Brown Road property on July 13. The men, a Kaiwaka local and resident from Warkworth, appeared in court in relation to the raid last week. Scavenger issued with trespass Police have issued a man with a trespass notice after he was identified on CTV footage helping himself to donated goods from Mangawhai St John. The man, not a local, had been regularly accessing the drop-off area at the back of the shop after hours for more than a month, taking items intended for sale and leaving the store’s area in a messy state Senior Constable Graham Gough said. “If anybody wants to donate items for the shop, we suggest maybe doing so within shop hours to stop scavengers.” Drivers: More care needed Due to the nation’s high number of fatalities, all police have been instructed to pay more attention to driving offences Senior Constable Gough says. “This includes not wearing a seatbelt, driving while intoxicated, speeding, and not stopping at stop signs. We will all be focusing more on driver behaviour to help bring down the road toll which is dismal,” he says. “Please everyone, drive safely.” Stolen vehicle info needed Police would like to hear from anyone who has information about a stolen vehicle following a burglary in Margaret Street between June 22 and July 8. A 1995, white Toyota Hilux, registration TJ1235, was unlawfully taken from the property after an offender (or offencers) left with the keys, the only item stolen from the address. - REPORTING/Julia Wade |
