Writers find regular homeThe Mangawhai Writers Group are now establishing themselves with a definite identity on the local scene. The creative group, which includes up to a dozen scribes of several genres, now has a regular meeting place at the old school house in the Museum complex. Their initial meeting was held last Thursday and will now be held on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30 pm. Convenor Bevan Lawrence says this is an opportunity for writers to discuss their works, some will read excerpts and it is hoped other new members will take encouragement and advice from those already published. “We encourage writing as a way to record our histories and stories for later generations to find. Just tell us your story or write a synopsis, find an illustrator, publisher, or ask for help and you’re on your way,” he says. Contact Bevan Lawrence at 480 1949 for information. |
