Fireworks fundraiser goes off with a bangJULIA WADE Local skies were ablaze with brilliance as a much-anticipated pyrotechnic display wowed a large crowd at a popular annual fundraiser. Held at Tomarata Domain on November 14, Tomarata Primary School’s sensational Guy Fawkes Night – complete with all the fun of the fair including musical entertainment, bouncy castles and carnival food – was reported as being another record year in crowd numbers. A school spokesperson says it ‘was simply amazing’. “This event wouldn't be the huge success that it is without the contribution from a few key people. Firstly, a massive shout out to Neil Harrison who is the man behind the amazing fireworks and does the fireworks at cost as a contribution to Tomarata Primary. It is extremely generous and such a wonderful way to bring the community together each year.” Credit for organisation of the event lies with parent helpers the spokesperson says, led by Anne Richards and her team; Erica Casey, Jeanette Lask and Kylie Shepherd who spent countless hours planning and coordinating to ensure the night would run smoothly. “Anne herself even spent the morning after picking up rubbish! Anne, on behalf of all the students and parents at Tomarata Primary who benefit from the proceeds, a massive thank you!” The school also wants to acknowledge Robyn Sibtsen who organises the raffles each year, and the Wellsford Lions who manage the parking. “And all the other volunteers who helped with setting up, selling tickets, managing stands and cleaning up – you're awesome! Tomarata Guy Fawkes simply wouldn't happen without your help.” Locals say the annual Tomarata Primary School fireworks display is one of the best you’ll ever see. PHOTO/SUPPLIED |
